Chinatown Baked Goods

Still relatively affordable to get a box of Cantonese baked goods from any Chinatown bakery. Instead of a dozen donuts or a box of munchkins (no hate!), how about a box filled with egg tarts, pineapple buns, and sponge cake for the morning meeting? Or, laying out a spread of pastries for an easy brunch?

Most Cantonese baked goods are not that sweet, so it’s not a sugar bomb like a donut might be. But, the bread is often soft and fluffy, buttery, and has the right kind of crumb to make it special.

My favorites: hot dog bun and pineapple bun.
